Fencing is very proud of not having had any doping issues for many years. Please ensure that you are FULLY aware of what medication you may or not may take before or during competition. Please be specifically careful of some cold and flu medications as well as medication for asthma. Please visit the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport to see what medication you may use. Please note that there are no longer ATUEs - but only TUEs. If you use salbutamol (Ventolin, Venteze etc) for asthma, you typically only need to declare that you use these inhalers. For all other asthma medication, such as corticostoroids, you will now need a TUE! Visit the Drug Free Sport for TUE forms.

Please read the FIE's latest notification about doping tests!
