  All fencers who want to participate in competitions organised by GFA (and be considered for Gauteng provincial colours) must be registered members of the association. Please see the information below which will enable you to register with the province.

All fencers who want to participate in competitions organised by SAAFA must be registered to SAAFA via their province. In order to register with SAAFA you need to pay the SAAFA registration fee (R250 per year for all fencers) into the GFA account. You must forward proof of payment with an e-mail to Mike Wood who will organise your SAAFA registration. For those fencers who have been selected by SAAFA to represent South Africa on an international level, you need to register with the FIE. FIE registrations can be organised with Paul Marais at SAAFA.

 

GFA MEMBERSHIP REGULATIONS

CLUBS

1.        All fencing clubs within the borders of Gauteng will be required to register with the Gauteng Fencing Association.

2.        The annual registration fee for clubs will be R300 per year (Schools clubs R100), payable each year by the
31st January each year. This has been extended to 30 April 2009 for this year ONLY.

3.        In return for this registration fee, the clubs will receive a free website, rulebook and CD-ROM, and also the GFA will undertake various marketing and promotions on behalf of fencing within Gauteng.

COACHES

1.        All coaches within the province of Gauteng will be required to register with the Gauteng Fencing Association 

2.        The annual registration fee for coaches will be R50 per year, payable by the 31st January each year.  A coach is defined as any person who provides fencing instruction.

3.        In return for registration, the coaches will receive coaching materials, and the GFA may organize coaching courses from time to time. Coaches will also receive regular information, like fixture lists and rule updates.

FENCERS

1.        All fencers within the province of Gauteng will be required to be registered with the Gauteng Fencing Association.

2.        The annual subscription fees will be

Full membership:             R220 per year

U/20 membership:            R110 per year

Student membership:       R110 per year

 ADMINISTRATION

1.        Each fencing club will be responsible for the registration of it’s members with the Gauteng Fencing Association. A completed Gauteng Fencing Association subscription form as well as confirmation of payment must sent to the Treasurer, Gauteng Fencing Association, P O Box 12947, Vorna Valley, 1686, or e-mailed to Mike Wood.

2.        Membership cards will be issued and posted to the Club Chairperson within one month after receipt of the subscription form.

3.        No fencer will be entitled to fence in any competition organised or sanctioned by the Gauteng Fencing Association, without a valid current membership card.

4.        The Gauteng Fencing Association may from time to time perform audits of the registered clubs to ensure that all fencers within the club have been registered. Clubs who are found to have unregistered members may be suspended from membership of the Gauteng Fencing Association. A prize will be awarded to the club with the largest registered membership at the end of the season, at the annual prize giving and awards dinner.
